On 27-28 January, 2026<\/strong> in the LEPL National Environmental Agency, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia held consortium meeting of the project, Black Sea Smart Marine Environmental Outcome System (BS-SEOS)\u201d.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partners of the project from Georgia, Romania and Turkey introduced their views on the integration of innovation technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, PhD Tamriko Supatashvili, a scientist at the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of the Georgian Technical University and the implementer of the EU project ,,Harnessing Algae Power for Pollution Reduction and Blue Growth\u201d BSB00091 (AlgaeRevine), presented a report on the project\u2019s goals and current activities. The topic of the report was planning future activities and creating strong synergy with the National Environment Agency, as stakeholder of the AlgaeRevine project, in the direction of Black Sea algae research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 26, 2025,<\/strong> a targeted information meeting and training was held at the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of Georgian Technical University within the framework of the EU project AlgaeRevive \u201cUsing Algae Energy for Pollution Reduction and Development of the \u201cBlue Strategy\u2019\u2019(BSB00091) – About processing and use of automatically transmitted information by Buyok, which was attended by academic staff of the Georgian Technical University, scientists of the Tsotne Mirtskhulav Water Managemente Institute engineers and scientists of the The Organization in Category of Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) (NNLE) Ecocenter For Environmental Protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harnessing Algae Power for Pollution Reduction and Blue Growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project addresses environmental challenges and promotes sustainable economic development in the region. It aims to establish the Black Sea Algae Knowledge Hub, a centralized platform for sharing research, innovation, and best practices related to algae. Key activities include developing an AI-powered algae monitoring tool called AlgaeSense, and pilot actions to identify and cultivate algae species with industrial potential for pollution reduction and industrial uptake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project partners: Via Pontica Foundation (PP1- lead partner- Bulgaria); Burgas State University “PROF. D-R ASSEN ZLATAROV (PP2 – Bulgaria); Tsotne Mirtskulava Water Management Institute of the Georgian Technical University (PP3-Georgia); Odesa State Agrarian University (PP4 -Ukraine); Hellenic Agricultural Organization DIMITRA (PP5 -Greece); Universitatea Ovidius Din Constanta (PP6 -Romania).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall objective of the AlgaeRevive project is to create a sustainable and innovative ecosystem for algae research, innovation, and industrial uptake in the Black Sea region. The project aims to leverage the potential of algae as a solution for pollution reduction, particularly in the context of marine ecosystems, while also exploring their potential for various industrial applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15\/03\/2024 \u2013 Open Competition for the Position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit<\/strong>
The Scientific Council of the Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management at the Georgian Technical University announces an open competition for the position of Head of a Scientific Structural Unit:
Head of the Department of Natural Hazards and Environmental Protection (Chief Scientific Officer) \u2013 1 staff position.<\/strong>
Applications will be accepted from March 11 to March 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the following address:
60B I. Chavchavadze Avenue, Tbilisi, 2nd floor, Room No. 232, Tsotne Mirtskhulava Institute of Water Management.

The interview and voting for the selection of candidates for the vacant position of Head of the Scientific Structural Unit will be conducted by the Scientific Council of the Institute on March 15, 2024.<\/strong>

II. Competition Conditions<\/strong>
Main Conditions of the Competition:<\/strong>
A person eligible for the position of Head of the Scientific Structural Unit must meet the requirements established for the Chief Scientific Officer or Senior Scientific Officer of this independent scientific research unit.
If a candidate does not currently hold the position of Chief or Senior Scientific Officer, upon selection as the Head of the Scientific Structural Unit, they will also be considered appointed to the corresponding scientific position.
