The Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of the Georgian Technical University, funded by the EU project AlgaeRevive” Harnessing Algae Power for Eutrophication Reduction and Blue Growth “Blue Strategy”” (BSB00091), purchased and deployed an USA made research buoy in the waters of the Black Sea Port of Poti, equipped with a solar panel, a beacon and 6 research automated electronic sensors.

The purpose of the scientific research is to study the ecological parameters of the Black Sea water for the growth and development of algae in the Black Sea waters of Georgia, such as acidity, salinity, pollution with oil and heavy metals, percentages of dissolved oxygen in water, etc.
