Educational Programs

Information About the Institute’s Participation in the Educational Process

Since 2015, the Institute has been actively involved in teaching students of the Agricultural Melioration (Agromelioration, Hydromelioration) program, accredited at the Niko Nikoladze College of Agroengineering and Food Technology in Didi Jikhaishi, under the Georgian Technical University (GTU). Institute staff are periodically sent to deliver lectures to the students of this program.

  • A professional training center is planned to be established at the Gori Experimental-Reclamation Ecological Station.

Since the 2011 reorganization with the Georgian Technical University, the Institute of Water Management has developed a professional education program for “Melioration Engineers” (Agromelioration, Hydromelioration). Based on this program, since 2012, the Institute has been involved in educational activities along with scientific work. Approved programs are offered at all three levels of higher education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: At the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering, practical laboratory and field-based training in subjects like hydraulics, hydraulic structures, pumps, and pumping stations is provided to Agroengineering students.
  • Master’s Degree: The program focuses on Agricultural Hydromelioration.
  • Doctoral Program: Specialization in Engineering Melioration, including research and experimental projects in relevant scientific fields.

Since 2023, an Institute staff member has been leading the Bachelor’s program on “Natural Hazards, Sustainable Environment, and Protection” at GTU’s Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development. Starting in 2024, they will also manage the Doctoral Program on “Water Resources Engineering” at the Faculty of Construction. Institute scientists are actively involved in both programs.

Institute personnel are heavily engaged in GTU’s teaching processes across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Twelve scientific staff members lecture, and two institute employees are PhD students at GTU. The Institute’s employees also supervise doctoral and master’s students. Additionally, through international agreements under the “Erasmus+” program, lectures are delivered at various universities across Europe, Russia, and China.
