Awards
On November 10, 2009, at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, a ceremonial session was held dedicated to Science Day, in accordance with the decision of the 31st session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2001. The event was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia and the Georgian Society for the History of Science. During this session, awards were presented to the best scientific-research institutions of 2008. The Institute of Water Management was awarded a diploma as the Best Scientific-Research Institution of 2008 in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
On November 10, 2010, a ceremonial session dedicated to International Science Day was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. During this event, the Institute of Water Management was awarded a diploma as the Best Scientific-Research Institution of 2009 in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
On October 1, 2010, Academician Zotne Mirtskhulava and the Institute of Water Management were awarded the Gold Medal by the American Biographical Institute (ABI).
From September 23-28, 2012, the 4th International Conference on “Future Problems of Architecture and Construction” was held at Czestochowa University of Technology in Poland. On September 25, Prof. Givi Gavardashvili was awarded a diploma and a silver medal from Czestochowa University of Technology for his contributions to the development of Georgian and Polish science.
On July 19, 2013, by decree #21/06/01 of the President of Georgia dated June 21, 2013, the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. Givi Gavardashvili, was awarded the Order of Honor.
On December 30, 2013, the Institute hosted Professor Sergey Chernomorets from the Faculty of Geography at Moscow State University, who is also the scientific secretary of the International Debris Flow Association. In connection with his visit, a scientific session was held, attended by invited guests from Georgia, including Doctors of Geographical Sciences, Professors Emil Tsereteli and Igor Bondarev, as well as Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician Giorgi Kherkheulidze.
On behalf of the President of the International Debris Flow Association, Prof. K. Nosov, and in recognition of their contributions to the field of debris flow research and protection, Dr. Igor Bondarev (Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor), Dr. Giorgi Kherkheulidze (Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician), and the Institute’s Director, Prof. Givi Gavardashvili, were awarded the 2013 Medal of the International Debris Flow Association. This award was presented in honor of the 100th anniversary of debris flow researcher, Lomonosov University Professor Simon Fleishman.
After the conclusion of a series of presentations, on May 30, 2014, a meeting of the Academic Council of Central China Normal University was held. During the session, Givi Gavardashvili was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Central China Normal University in recognition of his contributions to the development of science in China and Georgia from 2007 to 2014.
On November 10, 2014, in celebration of World Science Day established by UNESCO, the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia awarded Irina Iordanishvili, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Head of the Seas and Reservoirs Department at the Institute, an honorary certificate for her scientific achievements in the field of hydraulic engineering.
On April 16, 2016, Tamar Sanikidze, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, awarded the Order of Honor to Robert Diakonidze, Academic Doctor of Geography and Associate Professor, who is the Head of the Natural Disasters Department at the Institute and the Module Leader for Agromelioration at the Faculty of Construction. This honor was bestowed by decree N.01877 of the President of Georgia.
On July 25, 2019, Yuri Majayski, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences and Professor of the Department of Agricultural Economics at Ryazan State Agrotechnological University, awarded Prof. Givi
On November 2, 2019, the Director of the Institute, Professor Givi Gavardashvili, was awarded a medal by the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine for his contributions to the development of Ukrainian-Georgian agrarian sciences.
Additionally, in 2019, he received a diploma from the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia for scientific achievements in the field of “Hydromelioration,” in celebration of World Science Day established by UNESCO, in Tbilisi, Georgia.
• საქართველოს ტექნიკური უნივერსიტეტის აკადემიური საბჭოს 2022 წლის 30 სექტემბრის დადგენილებით საქართველოს ტექნიკური უნივერსიტეტის წინაშე გაწეული დამსახურებისათვის სტუ-ს ც. მირცხულავას სახ. წყალთა მეურნეობის ინსტიტუტის მთავარი მეცნიერი თანამშრომელი რობერტ დიაკონიძე დაჯილდოვდა სტუ-ს „ოქროს მედლით“.
• 2023 წლის 31 აგვისტოს საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა ეროვნული აკადემიის აკადემიკოსს, ტექნიკის მეცნიერებათა დოქტორს, პროფესორ გივი გავარდაშვილს 39 პროექტისა და პრაქტიკაში აშენებული 13 ნაგებობის ავტორს დღეს საქართველოს ეკონომიკისა და მდგრადი განვითარების მინისტრის ბრძანებით მიენიჭა საქართველოს დამსახურებული მშენებლის საპატიო წოდება.
• 2023 წლის 10 ნოემბერს საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა ეროვნულ აკადემიაში ტრადიციისამებრ, საზეიმოდ აღინიშნა მეცნიერების მსოფლიო დღე, რომელიც 2001 წელს „იუნესკოს“ მიერ იყო დაფუძნებული. მეცნიერების მსოფლიო დღესთან დაკავშირებით საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა ეროვნულმა აკადემიამ ჰიდრომელიორაციის დარგში სამეცნიერო მიღწევებისათვის საპატიო სიგელით დააჯილდოვა სტუ-ს ც. მირცხულავას სახელობის წყალთა მეურნეობის მთავარი მეცნიერი, ტექნიკის მეცნიერებათა დოქტორი ედუარდ კუხალაშვილი.
